Apologies for the lack of blogging, as I’m sure you know things get very busy during the summer!

This is the month where things start to get a bit wet even in South Leicester!, it will also be still relatively warm so it is perfect for many pests and diseases to flourish. Looking on the bright side, it is late in the year and most damage that occurs will have little effect on the long term health of the plants. Remember if you don’t have the time or patience we can of course come and look after your garden for you.

Here’s a few things that you should now be trying to get done in the garden…

  • Collect up any leaves that fall and store them away to make leaf-mould.
  • If you have grown any sunflowers leave the heads out for the birds to feed on.
  • Areas of patchy grass can be sprinkled with grass seed mixed with compost to thicken growth.
  • If there are any suckers around the bases of ornamental trees now is the time to prune them away.
  • Cut back any plants that are overhanging your pavements or boundaries.
  • Increase interval between mowing and slightly increase the height of cut.
  • Scarify and then aerate the lawn.
  • Use an autumn fertiliser if the lawn is pale and thin.

Don’t forget we cover the following areas…

Barwell, Broughton Astley, Bramcote, Bruntingthorpe, Burbage, Burton Hastings, Churchover, Claybrooke Magna, Copston Magna, Countesthorpe, Croft, Dunton Bassett, Earl Shilton, Enderby, Fleckney, Gilmorton, Hinkley, Husbands Bosworth, Market Bosworth, Narborough, Newbold Verdon, Osbaston, North & South Kilworth, Kimcote, South Leicester, Leire, Sapcote Shawell, Stapelton, Stanford, Stoke Golding, Stoney Stanton, Sutton Cheney, Ullesthorpe, Upper Bruntingthorpe, Welford, Willey, Wolvey.
